Maybe this should have
been one of the first posts I made when I decided to start this blog; but, I
didn't! As they say where I'm from, it's never too late for a shower of
rain. So here goes:
For many startups, they know how important marketing is to their business but for
some reason, they never budget neither the time nor money to spend 'telling'
people about the business. And then on the weekend, I got this reminder
from a UPS commercial "It's never enough to just open your business."
What a profound message, from a commercial, to a new entrepreneur!
So this is what I am here to say today, "Regardless of how
much satisfaction you get from opening the doors of your business, it is not
enough!!! Equally important is letting people know your business is open, why you opened it, what
you're offering and to whom are your offerings targeted. And this my friend, is
the importance of MARKETING."
Gone are the days when marketing should take a back seat in your
business. Remember, yours is not the only business of its kind and while
you are busy 'opening' your competition is busy generating attention for their
business with a comprehensive integrated marketing communications programme
which taps directly into your specific audience.
And marketing, depending on scale, is affordable. It does not have to take a large investment, it just has to be creative, well-thought out and attractive to your audience.
