Three practical tips to attract new customers in 2017

Businesses that want to experience any kind of growth; whether it’s in sales, product usage or brand awareness needs new customers as a matter of urgency.  Relying on just your customer base is not a wise idea.  If you lose one or two customers it could leave your business in a financial bind, therefore it is very important to always be on the hunt for new customers.

Advertising and the use of digital and social media rank high on the list strategies that many companies use to attract and retain new customers; but what can a small or Startup Company with limited resources do to attract new customers in 2017 and beyond? The following are three practical tips I recommend for you:

-          Seek helpful partnerships – Building alliances with complementary businesses or even those involved similar activities like your business can be a great way to identify new customers.  You can refer clients to your partners and they can do the same for your business.  There is strength in numbers.

-          Add value to current services – You could sell a product and add free installation as an incentive for your customers.  If you provide a service, there could be a window for free or discounted sign-up.  Promotions such as these attract particularly new customers who research prior to making a buying decision; and based on limited disposable income available today, that is almost everyone.

-          Create a customer loyalty programme – Everything you do should come back to a customer loyalty programme.  When your customer feels appreciated, they talk about it and at the opportune time, they refer your business.  Giving them an incentive to do so ensures that they will always do it.  It doesn’t have to be anything big or expensive; it just has to be consistent.
