Facebook Marketing

Facebook marketing has emerged as one of the easiest ways for businesses of all sizes and types to get the word about their business out to their target audience.  One of the main reasons for this is that Facebook is very user-friendly and practically everyone is on it.  As a matter of fact, at the last count, Facebook reportedly had more than one billion active users.  This means that there are potentially one billion persons out there in the big wide world who could have eyeballs on your product or service if you do Facebook marketing right.

So what exactly is Facebook marketing? Basically, it is using all the marketing strategies possible on the world’s biggest social site to get your business the attention it desires.

There are several ways that companies in general and brands in particular can use Facebook to boost their marketing programme.  Actions such as setting up a Facebook Fan page, Advertising (boosting a page or a post) and using features such as Facebook Live, can set your company on the path to reaching your specific target audience.

All businesses on Facebook are encouraged to set up a Facebook Fan page.  The fan page is interactive which means that the company can post pictures, videos and other content, interact with fans and followers, get instant feedback, run contests and to top it off, advertise affordably to bring more eyes to the business and the page.

To enhance the business’s Facebook page, business owners are not bound by words only.  You have the option of using fancy but well-designed graphics to grab the attention of your audience.  In fact, Facebook encourages this plus there is no fun in having your page look like everyone else’s.

Advertising on Facebook is not only affordable but can also be seen as a form of direct marketing, only online.  Facebook offers a feature during advertising which suggests advertising based on specific groupings.  This includes being able to select an audience based on age, gender, location and interests.

In order to maximize your page, consistency is key --- post daily but post things that are relevant to your business.  Encourage your followers and fans to interact with your page by liking, commenting and reacting to your posts.  This may be done by asking direct questions in your post or including a poll which more often than not will get you a response.  Give your fans permission to post pictures and share their experiences with your product or service on your page as well, this will only help to authenticate your business with potential customers.

A newer but extremely popular feature of Facebook is Facebook Live and a number of companies are now incorporating this element into their marketing activities.  With Facebook Live, companies can host webinars, broadcast live from product launches or company openings, promote upcoming events as well as get instant feedback from customers.

So if you are in business but you don’t yet have a Facebook page, I encourage you to get one.  It’s free to set up, easy to maneuver and puts your business in the face of your target audience.
